Treasure Coast Roofers Turning Down Work

Treasure Coast Roofers Are Turning Down Work........

We’re making great progress in bringing on whole communities throughout the Treasure Coast. But for the 5th time in the last couple weeks, we’ve had to turn away individual Homeowners that would like to use Roof-A-Cide® to eliminate the need for repeated Roof Cleaning.

Why are we turning them away? Because most Contractors on the Treasure Coast don’t realize the opportunity they’re missing and the companies we have to bring in from Palm Beach, Broward, & Indian River are only focused on whole communities. So the individual Homeowner isn’t being taken care of.

Roof Cleaning & Maintenance in Georgia & Northern Florida

Roofing Contractors throughout Northern Florida and Georgia are looking for ways to increase revenues and profitability - and we can help!

If you’re running an established Roofing Company, chances are you have a built-in customer base for high-margin ancillary services like Roof Cleaning, Roof Stain Prevention, and Roof Maintenance.  And if you’re like most Roofing Contractors, you don’t realize just how much potential profit you’re turning away by NOT offering these services to your customers – and many of your customers are probably paying OTHER companies to do this work because you don’t offer it.

We can help you change that. We’ve developed a proven solution to the problem of ugly roof stains that detract from the appearance of roofs throughout 80% of the US and particularly in the Southeast. Our product is an EPA Approved solution, also approved by every major roof materials manufacturer, to actually prevent algae discoloration on roofs. A light spray every couple of years will keep the roof looking like new, eliminate the need for Roof Cleaning, and provide your company with recurring revenue while reinforcing your Company Name Recognition & building Customer Loyalty.

Roof Maintenance for Contractors

Here's a video we did recently that shows what preventative maintenance across a whole community can accomplish.

This is a community of 400+ homes that works with one of our Applicators. Their roofs are approximately 15 years old. And while most 15 year old shingle roofs in Florida would be black by now, these have never needed to be cleaned and they look almost pristine. Why? Because of Proactive, Preventative Maintenance.

Roof Cleaning is very common here in Florida because when the roof is covered in black algae, it not only looks bad & detracts from the aesthetics of the property, it detracts from the  value of the property or community. This is why many homeowners in South Florida don't have a choice as to whether or not to keep their roofs clean - it's mandated by the communities they live in.

But cleaning the roofs with harsh chemicals or pressure cleaning puts unnecessary wear & tear on the roof and opens up the potential for damage. Preventative Maintenance is much easier on the roof and it's more cost-effective. Periodic inspections, minor repairs when needed, preventing algae & moss growth, etc all contribute to helping the roof last as long as possible. This is obviously a "Win" for the homeowner or community, but it's also a Win for the Contractor that is creating Customers for Life and generating higher margin residual income at the same time.

If you can do this with your individual customers, you should be able to calculate the increase in revenue. If you can do this for whole communities (HOA's, Condos, Apartments, etc)., the increase could be pretty substantial.

If you're a Roofing Contractor & you're still ignoring preventative maintenance, you're missing a lot of potential revenue.

If you're thinking about putting one together, let us know & we'll be happy to send you some basics on how to get started.

Creating a Well-Rounded & Profitable Roof Maintenance Program

If you’re a Roofing Contractor and you’re not offering a well-designed maintenance program using Roof-A-Cide®, you are passing up an excellent opportunity for your company to capitalize on the many benefits that can help your company increase competitiveness, profitability, and customer loyalty in almost any market. And if your competitors offer one, but you don't, you may soon find your company at a competitive disadvantage.

When marketed, explained, and implemented properly, the maintenance program concept can be especially successful in the Roofing Industry since it sets your company apart as a Full-Service Roofing Company. And while selling the program may be a little challenging at first - if it is done properly, it will generate additional high-margin revenue, customer loyalty, referrals, and additional sales opportunities for your company.

Benefits:
  • Sets your company apart from your competition: More and more, Roofing companies are starting to offer maintenance programs and/or Roof Cleaning. A properly designed program will be comprehensive, organized, and priced effectively so you can take full advantage of the opportunity.
  • Established Market:  If you’re in Florida, chances are your Customers are already paying to have their roofs cleaned – they’re just not paying you YET.
  • Name Recognition: Your Company and Your Competitors are fighting for every Customer's attention. This is a way to keep your name in front of them and get paid while doing it.
  • Increased and Ancillary Revenues: Increase revenues by offering Roof Cleaning and Treatment, but also by using these interactions as a chance to let them know what your other products, services, and offers are.
  • Residual Income: Roof-A-Cide® treatments provide you with residual income every two years. But the program works even better when it includes yearly roof inspections. This creates more value for the Customer – especially in areas that a prone to storms.
  • Relationship Building / Customer Loyalty / Customer Service: Provides you an opportunity to remind your customers of who you are, what you do, and address any concerns they may have. This is a critical part of a successful strategy when dealing with Homeowner Associations or larger organizations where Board or Management turnover is commonplace.
  • Customer Education on the Benefits of Proactive Maintenance: Providing customers with written reports on the status of their roof, areas of concern, and expected remaining lifespan allows them to plan ahead and gives your company more credibility.
  • Keep Crews Working / Fully Employed: Since it is sometimes difficult to keep staff fully employed at your company’s core functions, routine inspections, maintenance, and treatment is a flexible way to fill in the gaps during slower periods or seasonal fluctuations.
  • Catching minor problems before they become major problems: Obviously this benefits the customer, but it also benefits your company and can limit your liability if the roof is still under your Workmanship Warranty.
  • Less Competition: Most Contractors focus on the bigger-ticket installations - but have to sacrifice margins to get the jobs. Repairs can generally bring in higher margins because there’s less competition.

Options to Add to Your Roof Maintenance Program:
  • Good / Better / Best: By offering three levels of service, you are giving customers more choice rather than offering a “take it or leave it” proposition.
  • Yearly Inspections: In the South, these are usually done just before hurricane season. In the North, these are usually done in early spring.
  • Gutter Inspection and Cleaning: Gutters are not as profitable in the South as they are in the North, but they should be checked to make sure they are not clogged. In Northern areas, gutters are more profitable. They should be cleaned out every year to avoid clogging that can lead to water that cannot drain turning to ice which can lead to gutter and fascia damage. Cleaning the exterior of the gutters is also an add-on service that can bring in additional revenue at high margins when done correctly.
  • Snow Removal: Obviously, this is a Northern option.
  • Discounts and/or Preferred Scheduling on Storm Repairs: This works well in storm-prone areas – especially as homeowners in many of these areas saw their storm deductibles climb from $500 to 2%, and now 5% is not uncommon.
  • Discounts and/or Preferred Scheduling on Regular Repairs, Upgrades, or New Services: Customers that are on your maintenance program are more likely to turn to your company for these items because they are already familiar with your quality of work.
Here's an easy way to calculate what this could mean for your company In The FIRST Year Alone. Enter the number of roofs you've installed in the last 8 years. FYI - this might not work well on some mobile devices:

And one of the main reasons why you should be giving this serious consideration is that Your Competitors probably are. If they implement a program and you don’t, not only do you lose this additional revenue, but you risk the very real possibility that they may take your existing customers. And once you’ve lost them, they’re likely gone forever.

Top Five Questions from the 2014 FRSA Expo

Roof-A-Cide was pleased to participate in our 10th year at the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Expo. The FRSA put on a very nice event and have once again demonstrated why they are an invaluable resource for Florida Roofing Contractors. It was our busiest year yet and we’d like to thank the Roofing Pros & Industry Vendors that came by our booth on Friday & Saturday to learn more about what we’re doing to Revolutionize the way Roof Cleaning & Maintenance is done and why Roof-A-Cide is the name that Contractors and Communities can Trust and Rely on.

From Roofing Contractors to Roofing Manufacturers, we’re working with some of the industry’s best to elevate the level of service and commitment to quality that customers should expect when it comes to the roofs that protect their homes and businesses.

Manufacturers are producing better roofing materials every year that are designed to be more durable and last longer - but they only work well if they’re installed by qualified Contractors with the knowledge and attention to detail needed to install them correctly. And they won’t last anywhere near as long as they’re designed to unless they’re properly maintained.  The Contractors we work with understand this and that’s why they use Roof-A-Cide and regularly scheduled Roof Maintenance to maximize the performance, value, and life expectancy of the roof.

So we had a lot of good questions and here are the Top Five:
  1. Does Roof-A-Cide Immediately Clean the Roof like Chlorine Bleach
    No.
Roof-A-Cide is an EPA Approved algaecide that works best as a PREVENTATIVE. While it will clean a roof over time, we recommend it be applied to a clean roof. If the roof needs to be cleaned first, we have a number of ways to get this done including our Roof Restore™.
  2. Is it Expensive for the Customer?
    No.
Contractors determine their own pricing, but the Roof-A-Cide application generally doesn't cost a customer any more than traditional Roof Cleaning – but it last much longer.
  3. What Equipment Do We Need?
Any professional spraying system will work, but we have created a spec for what we recommend as the most efficient and durable setups. You can see them on the Equipment page of our website.
  4. Do You Offer Training and Support?
    Yes.
Quality Control is critical to what we do because we guarantee every roof that’s treated with Roof-A-Cide. So every Company that works with us is fully trained on how to use the equipment and our products. In addition, we offer a full range of sales & marketing support to help them identify target markets and explain what we do and how it benefits the Customer.
  5. Do You Offer Protected Territories?
    Yes.
Roof-A-Cide products are not available to the general public or Independent Contractors. They are only available through our network of Authorized Applicators and each one has a primary area that they focus on. These areas are not Exclusive but they are Protected in that we limit the number of Applicators that we establish in any given area depending on the number of homes in that area.

If you're considering offering Roof Cleaning & Stain Prevention as part of an overall Maintenance Program, take advantage of these free resources that will help you evaluate the potential for your business:
  1. Creating a Well-Rounded Maintenance Program - an explanation of the options and benefits of different aspects of a Maintenance Program.
  2. Maintenance Program Analysis - Once you've crafted an outline of your program, this tool will help you gauge your Customers' perception & Price Points.
  3. 5-Year Cash Flow Projection - Using the info from the Maintenance Program Analysis, this spreadsheet will help you easily quantify the expected results at various levels of activity.
To receive all three of these valuable tools, just follow this link, fill out some basic info and we'll email it to you.

For additional information on what we do, how we do it, and how it can benefit your company, please feel free to visit our website, blogs, & follow us on LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, or YouTube.
